We are delighted to share a special experience for foreign tourists visiting (or planning to visit) Kanazawa, Japan.
Our organization, the Ishikawa Music and Cultural Association, is dedicated to preserving and passing on traditional Japanese music through a variety of initiatives. One such endeavor is our annual concert held in December, a historic event with a tradition spanning nearly 60 years.
The highlight of this concert is our performance of Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 9,” which enjoys worldwide popularity. In addition, we present a unique piece called “Yachiyo Jishi,” featuring a collaboration between traditional Japanese musical instruments, a full orchestra, and a choir—something you won’t hear anywhere else in Japan.
We invite you to experience “Yachiyo Jishi” performed with the traditional Japanese instruments koto and shakuhachi. We believe it will become a cherished and unforgettable part of your journey through Japan.
The concert will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024, starting at 2:00 PM (doors open at 1:00 PM) at Kanazawa Kagekiza (The Kanazawa Theatre), located next to the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art. Tickets can be purchased on the day at the ticket counter to the right of the hall entrance. We look forward to welcoming you!
